Arie Luyendijk: Alonso may Indy 500 win

Tomorrow get Fernando Alonso for the first time in an Indycar at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. You can have transactions follow via a live stream. Dutch oval-king Arie Luyendijk has already have confidence in a good outcome.

Despite that Arie Luijendijk/Luyendijk/Luyendyk never Formula 1 reed, he is one of the most successful Dutch riders. Admittedly, before Max Verstappen at the time appeared said that, what about the other riders that our country has produced. But let’s not dwell on this too long.

Arie moved in the mid ’80s to America for the American Dream to pursue. The born Sommelsdijkenaar did so wonderfully well in, because he built a nice career with, amongst others, victories in the CART series and the Indycar championship. Because of his performance, the Dutchman included in the Motorsports Hall of Fame of America.

His greatest successes obtained Arie in the Indy 500. On the Brickyard if Arie twice the milk taste that the winner after the race is offered. The now 63-year-old has reportedly still has strong bones.

Now Fernando Alonso an attack is going to do on the victory in the American classics to his second puzzle piece of the Triple Crown, took GPUpdate the time is ripe to Arie agree to his opinion about the chances of the Spaniard. Arie thinks that Alonso has a realistic chance to win:

“For Alonso is the modern time fantastic. Andretti Autosport ride with six cars, and thus garner them a lot of data. Mutually they share that information within the team is an open book, nothing is withheld. For Alonso is that great: he has all the information he needs. Of so much data was used, at the time of my debut, absolutely no question.”

According to the man who now acts as a steward for the race, go to the ‘500’ it is mainly about concentration. That one moment that your attention level, you can head cost:

“Before you know it, you are lying in the wall. The concentration level is like nowhere else. The submission of the bend, the middle, the dispatch, the straight-line – you may never faint. Physically, it might not be very tough, but mentally is that it is.”

Perhaps the most important trick is determining the right level of downforce that you need at the right time. If you have the guts to wing of the car to pick it up, you can get the victory pose. However, the risk that the wall invliegt is, of course, also bigger.

“In qualifying, it is for example completely different than in the race, because on Pole Day if you want as hard as possible on the straight. The car will then slip, she is floaty in the bends. In the race itself, you have more downforce, otherwise you will not be off the feet in the traffic. If you feel good, you can as the race progresses the team to even ask for some [of downforce].”

For the diehards that don’t have a minute want to miss out on Alonso’s operations in Indy, there is actually good news. Tomorrow is the first day of the Spaniard on the oval streamed live on the YouTube channel of the IndyCar Series. Hopefully flies ‘Nando, not too hard, the wall.
