Now the network can find a large number of different reviews of new retro console from the Nintendo NES Classic Mini. It is designed to remind us of the dawn of the video game industry after its rebirth in 1983 (about the Atari-era, we’ll tell you how some other time). NES Mini is a stylized original NES (Nintendo Entertainment System) console with built in games and extensibility — adding new games and so on. We, in Russia, it is, however, rather reminiscent of the “Dandy” pirate clone of a Japanese masterpiece.
We have already talked about the technical characteristics of the NES Classic Mini; however not to the superfluous will remind that it is powerful and 10-year-old Nintendo Wii, and even the latest version of the Nintendo 3DS, which came out (and on 3DS and continue to get) is very bright and advanced games. No primitive components, like “original” out of the question.
“Normal” NES boasted an 8-bit Ricoh 2A03 on the CPU 3510 transistors. Inside the NES Classic Mini is a single-chip Allwinner R16. And this is a 4-core ARM Cortex-A9 (only one core has 26 millions of transistors) operating at a frequency of 1.2 GHz and a graphics card Mali-400 (capacity 55 000 000 triangles per second). Memory well as much — 256 MB. And the games are stored on the drive capacity of 512 MB.
Why Nintendo used such powerful stuffing? Without evil (or Vice versa) intent — just these components today are very cheap, available in large quantities and they are very easy to put together. Harder and more expensive it would cost to create a deliberately “immature” platform.
However, the NES Classic Mini is a project in itself; even flash-memory built-in here and change it without cancelling the warranty and the easy way will not work. 512 MB just say that memory will only last for the game. But there is a configured emulator; Nintendo of brooms does not knit! Yes, both visually and from the point of view of ergonomics of the joysticks (except the length of the cable in the original 2.3 meters, and there is only 0,8) — it is a real same NES from the past. Only much less.
Nintendo Classic Mini connects directly to your TV through the HDMI port and carries on Board 30 pre-installed classic games, including Super Mario Bros., The Legend of Zelda, Metroid, Donkey Kong, PAC-MAN and Kirby’s Adventure. The prefix is available in the U.S. and Europe at a price of $ 59.99 and $ 59,98 euros respectively. In Russia the official start of sales is scheduled for November 23. While the Nintendo Classic Mini is available for pre-order for 3999 rubles.
