Hyundai Ioniq: a kind of Prius, but than 8 mille cheap

Hyundai has the starting price of the Ioniq Hybrid made known, and that is pretty sharp.

It should be clear which car the Koreans as an inspiration and had when they the Ioniq designed. Although the car is certainly distinctive, the overall form reminiscent of the Prius. Also in terms of dimensions and performance to outrun the two rivulet each other hardly: the Prius is 4.54 metres long, the Ioniq is 4.47 metres, is slightly shorter.

Under the hood of the Prius, an atmospheric 1.8 four cylinder engine according to the Atkinson-principle, good for 98 hp. The Ioniq, with a 1.6, also with Atkinsons-cycle, 105 hp produces. However, the electric motor of the Prius, something more powerful: 72 hp vs 43 hp. These specifications translate into virtually the same performance. A top of respectively 180 and 185 km/h for the Prius and Ioniq, while the Hyundai on the sprint to one hundred with 10.8 seconds two tenths must admit on the Toyota.

But then the price. Where the Prius at least 29.995 euros should cost, Hyundai has announced that the starting price of the Ioniq on 21.995 euro. Exactly eight mille cheaper than the Prius! In the first instance, the Ioniq as a hybrid in the showroom, in the short term, followed by a full electric variant. On the plug-in hybrid, we will next year have to wait.
