Again, We have a fun request within: cycling, lease or a used car?

The bike. Who is not semi-mobile with it? Certainly in the Netherlands it is fantastic cycling, the entire infrastructure is so adjusted that cycling is almost always an option. Especially in urban areas, you’re not even so much slower. It is healthy and eco-friendly.

So think the friend of Arie Dirk about it. She is now 27 and rides with pleasure to her work, although Arie Dirk prefer else saw. He has her almost convinced to move over to something with four wheels and a roof. An automobile is, if you like.

Is Arie Dirk to think about an a-segmenter which are still with guilders were paid for on delivery. About the budget in doubt, Arie Dirk a little. On the one hand, he found a €1.000 fine, but this should be incremented to €3.000 for a car to have something more reliable. He asked us what to recommend and the ‘reacreeps’ in particular to their experience. These are of course very welcome in the comments section.

Before we go further, below, the overview of needs and requirements, all neatly incorporated into a table:

Current /previous cars:Bike

Sale / lease:Sale (or lease?)

Business / private:Private

Budget:€ 1,000 to 3,000

Annual mileage:less than 10,000 km

Brandstofvoorkeur:Gasoline

Reason to purchase another car:First car

Family composition:Two adults

Preferred brands /models:A-segment

No-go models / brands:No preference for VAG products

Bikes or a used car, but there is a third option where Arie Dirk curious about is: private lease. This is becoming more and more and he has several times seen you, a car like the Hyundai i10 for only €199 per month lease. Is that interesting? And of course the most important, what are the hooks and eyes? For the options around the eur 1,000 we refer to this Autoblog-advice. These are the best options between €1,500 and 3 mille.

The most obvious trio:
If you have reliable transport looking for 3 mille, you can just not to this trio, that may be clear. The Citroen C1, Peugeot 107 and Toyota Aygo were absolute bestsellers. There are very a lot of to purchase: so you’ve the choice. The Daihatsu motor has character, is economical and reliable. The cars themselves are very basic, but with a certain charm. Check out this video to see where you should pay attention to.

C1

The less obvious duo:
Just a bit more mature than the above choice. The Daihatsu Sirion and Subaru Justy in for a drive more pleasant. The 1.0 engine is exactly the same as the Aygo, but you have just a bit more space and a better seating position. The chassis is the biggest difference: a comfortable and sportier. Disadvantage: they are much less sold and therefore more difficult to find. Strange, because even @autoblogger she asked many years ago why not everyone in a Daihatsu drive…

Justy

The choice of James May:
Cheap and cheerful. With the Fiat Panda was Fiat’s A-segment again. The Seicento was only cheap, the Panda had a lot more bowling. It drives a whole lot more mature, and is actually a practical car. Avoid the base 1.1 versions, for in your budget is a 1.2 with air conditioning with less than a ton on the clock. The are still solid cars, too, because on our AB advice you can see that on a few small points there is very little wrong with it. Fact: this car would actually be the Fiat Gingo is called, but the guys at Renault thought it was too similar to Twingo. The judge was the Renault once, making the name ‘Panda’ was dusted off.

Panda

The ‘smart’ choice:
The Smart ForTwo is one of the two recommendations, with rear-wheel drive in this company. A bit between a car and brommobiel in, but if your low cost want to there are very few cars that come close. The biggest disadvantage is that you have only two persons can sit, but they are very pretty. The short wheelbase combined with the over-zealous ESP and slow transmission make this certainly not fine rijdersauto. As basic transport to be inexpensive to stay dry it is nonetheless a good thing.

Smart

French evergreen:
Perhaps the most successful design of Patrick LeQuement. The Renault Twingo is actually the spiritual successor of the Renault 4. Cheap, reliable and comfortable transport. The Twingo is roomier than you would think. The rear you can slide and you can the seats is so flat that you two sleeps. Useful. The Twingo is in many different versions sold, so you have a lot of choice nowadays. For 3 mille you have a late uitloopmodel with options such as air conditioning, stereo, power steering and in the case of the Initiale even leather, and alloy wheels. Look at the arms, this would still be a crack.

Twingo

Cute Japannertje:
Sounds oneerbiediger than it was intended. The Nissan Micra was always a boring car which you recommended to your neighbor. The previous generation was much more fun, almost funky even. The Micra is just a bit larger than an a-segmenter, what you notice if you are in it. This is just a nice car. And the only thing that the buttons in the interior are finished in the ‘milky white’. Nice touch. All the motors are fine, although the 1.0 is not left. Most models have air conditioning, which is always a nice bonus. There is a single variant without a working air conditioner, but a V6 from the 350Z.

Micra

Underrated all-rounder:
That this is not a big hit, has become quite strange. Because the Daihatsu Young RV is a winner. Plenty of space, very practical, five doors and it looks not bad. You can choose between the well-known 1.0 driepitter, but there are also instances delivered with the 1.3. Then you go from 0-100 in 10,3 seconds! In spite of the space he is certainly not heavy: 867kg is bad. We are the car collectively forgotten, but not entirely.

Daihatsu YRV

Sporting opdonder:
Do you want also some fun to the car experience while the cost is low, then the MG ZR 105 is a must. Ok, you notice that this car roots in the 90’s. But they look still nice and thick. Handling: above average. It is also a true MG, so there is enough streetcred. Few cars are more fun to drive for this money. New they were not popular and that is the offer: you need to have them with a magnifying glass to search.

MG ZR

No occasion, tip 1:
Arie Dirk wondered private lease is not an option. Now, that is multiple factors. In fact, it applies the principle: if leasing was cheaper than buying them, there were no leasing companies. However, it takes a lot of worry away. Think of maintenance and reliability. You drive a new car, also what worth. We look on the website of Hyundai, then you can see that your i10 with air-conditioning can be leased for $ 260 per month. Then you should not more than 10,000 km per year in the next 4 years.

i10

The largest snag is the mileage. You drive more miles, then you’ll have to pay more. In itself is understandable, but something to keep in mind. Second point of attention: the state in which the car delivers. Mostly is that the car is in new condition. Or that realistic is to expect is a different question.

No occasion, tip 2:
Arie Dirk gave in his application that he was not dissatisfied about the physical effects that cycling has for his girlfriend. So it might be an idea to invest in a good bike. Now you can get one at Utrecht Central station, fiksen for a tenner (and coincidentally, without slot), but you can also for the best of what Gazelle has to offer. The Gazelle Ultimate 2 is the Pagani among the two-wheelers. A carbon frame and carbon fork ensure that the weight is low (13.5 kg!). The Magura HS11 brakes are excellent at their job, calculated and very doseerbaar. Oh, and the transmission: 30 gears and rear-wheel drive! For just a 2 mille is this in your shed.
