A “research” of an insurance company is now flocking around in big national media. But the results are at least questionable. Don’t believe the hype.
Insurer Netpolis has conducted a survey into the number of fines that motorists in different brands, on average, drive. The result seems to show that the driver of an Audi on average the most traffic violations per year. All participating Audi drivers had at least one penalty per year speed receive, separate from other traffic violations. Also with a red light driving his Audimobilisten leaders according to Netpolis: 45% said by red driving. Netpolis also claims that the most brave motorists at red lights Mercedesrijders: only 5% could be a red driven. Apparently no taxi drivers participated in the “research” of Netpolis.
Netpolis also asserts that 17% of the Audi drivers more than ten penalties per year and knows how to score, well above Seat (4%) and Toyota (2%) for the top 3 complete. Owners of cars from the stables of Kia scored the least penalties, but come on the third place in the list with drankrijders, only for cars of the brands Seat and Citroen have more to do with a drunken driver.
To think everything in perspective: there were 1081 people participated in the survey that several major media today as a truth present. 1081 people seems to be a big number but if you divide by the number of brands that are handled (18 pieces plus a cup of “other”) then it is a very small group of directors that a brand represents. If you’re even in the consideration takes that there is no clarity is given about the number of drivers for each brand that is questioned, we can say that this research is simply unreliable results.
Appear so, the results also suggest that Audi, BMW (huh?), Volvo, and Mercedes-drivers all not tailgating. Fact: no one sticks a bumper according to this research, except people that Renault drive. Seems legit. Peugeot and Volkswagen has zero penalties for not properly working lighting. I own a Peugeot. I also have shares in the automotive verlichtingslijn of Philips. These are just a few examples of evidence that this research is not reliable.
And then we come to the point at which we you have to warn, because for every ‘journalist’ with a bit of common sense in one glance can see that this investigation is anything but watertight, take up a large part of the national media (Autoweek, Metro, Now, Powned, RTL, Telegraph, etc.) the message of Netpolis (distributed by REUTERS) unquestioningly for truth and present it to their readers.
Here in the newsroom we think that it is impossible that Audi drivers are the biggest verkeersovertreders could be. We wait, however, rather go on a research that is not based on a piece of sensatiestatistieken, before we such a thing as truth to present to you. Of which act.
