As a car enthusiast do you know Michiel van den Brink, perhaps, even of the Spyker Peking to Paris and Vandenbrink GTO. Maybe you also have a column from his hand read. The latest project of the designer is concerned with a stylish two-wheeler.
The project has, for now, the rolling name VanderHeide motorcycle by Michiel van den Brink to cooperate, and it is a classic looking bike with a fairing reminiscent of the buikschuivers of yesteryear. That fits in the line of projects that we know of Michiel. This interesting column from 2007 about coachbuilding, the desire for the special and historical, it appears in retrospect, a prescient look into the future. After all, moving brands such as Lamborghini, Ferrari and Rolls-Royce more and more in the direction of one-offs and/or in very limited edition models.
But going back to the engine. The brothers VanderHeide have a 1,000 cc block from an Aprilia RSV-hang, this unit will also be quite fast. Rolf van der Heide has also Carver worked as an engineer, as well as in Spyker. The base of the structure is formed by a full carbon monocoque frame from one piece. Many earlier attempts at a full carbon motorcycle frame to develop failed miserably because the frames tend to be at the steering to break. VanderHeide, therefore, has a completely new suspension system on the front developed, which is the traditional ballhead and eliminates the forces nicely on the frame divides.
A new fully adjustable spring – and steering system with double wishbone and pushrod need for a reliable handling to ensure. The striking coloured front and rear shock absorber are in a straight line behind each other and work together to have a wooden ass to prevent. Also the wheels are built from carbon fiber for even more ‘added lightness’.
Put your brightly colored motorcycle outfit and helmet with a roaring black panther on it already fixed ready for the moment that you walk around the block can go with this understated stylish bicycle?
