For decades, people were experimenting on a chimpanzee experiments: infecting them with heavy infections, damage to the brain and other organs of monkeys affect their body strong radiation and highly toxic substances. Attorney Steve wise (Steve Wise) has dedicated his life to fighting for the rights of chimpanzees and other animals.
Wise, as head of the project “Inhuman rights” participated in the creation of the HBO documentary film “Open cell” (“Unlicking the Cage”). The film tells about how wise it is struggling to chimpanzees had the opportunity to challenge his imprisonment in court.
“Today, the monkey is considered a thing, a slave of man. She can’t go to court,” explains Ujas.
However, defenders believe that the animal should be considered a person with rights and the ability to defend them. In this wise is going to convince the society and the state.
“I’m sure we will sooner or later hear. From the work of Jane Goodall and numerous other studies it is known about the high intelligence of chimpanzees. Apes can be taught human language, they understand what is happening in the moment, and that was before, and is also able to plan for the future. We use the scientific data about the intelligence of a chimpanzee to raise the question about the improvement of the legal system. Beings who are not people, but able to think and feel needs to be empowered. That’s what drives us,” says wise.
