In August, may records be broken, if again a Ferrari 250 GTO under the hammer. There are opbrengstverwachtingen pronounced of 60 to 70 million US dollars (!).
The car in question is the 3851GT, which from 1965 in the possession of Fabrizio Violati, the car according to Kidston in Monte Carlo bought for 2.5 million lire (about 3,000 euro, if you convert). The former car of Jo Schlesser and Henri Oreiller, in the Tour the France of 1962 as the second ended, otherwise would of his engine, where a Powerboat racer has his eye on dropping, are stripped.
The car comes with a black edge: Henri Oreiller struck in October 1962 in Paris after a tyre blow-out on the head, where he was killed.
On August 14, is the 250 GTO auctioned at Bonhams, without a reserve price, so he goes guaranteed way. The last 250 GTO that was sold resulted in 52 million dollars, ferrari enthusiasts hold for now account with an increase of at least 10 to 15 percent.
Several insiders report that the car, after the death of Violati in 2010, has fallen into the hands of Evert Louwman, but unfortunately we were not confirmed. The spokesperson will refrain from comments, so we must be just on information from second hand sail. Incidentally, it is Evert Louwman also a major shareholder of Bonhams, so that the auction costs in that case he has already largely recovered.
The following video shows the late Violati just see how much noise the 250 GTO is capable of:
UPDATE: the yield fell at 38 million dollars.
