Tesla delivers less cars due to shortage of parts

Tesla: straks meer laadpalen dan auto's?
Tesla, the company that last week hundreds of thousands of pre-orders received for the Model 3. The same Tesla took in the first quarter of its planned sales of 16,000 cars not because they don’t have enough parts.

They wanted to 16,000 cars on the way to their goal of 80,000 to 90.000 cars for the whole of 2016. But because there is a shortage of parts, in the first quarter of this year, not more than 14.820 cars delivered. However, the target is not in danger, says Tesla.

That may be, but it is at least remarkable that Tesla in the past few days more than a quarter of a million pre-orders wrote. Each deposit was good for a 1000 euro deposit, but the same company wants the end of 2017, the Model 3 to deliver a final print run of 500,000 pieces per year, while the current production rate, so not even to 60,000 pieces per year.

We are very curious to know which parts they shortage for their Model S and/or Model X. The biggest threat to the goals of Tesla is likely to be a shortage of batteries. As Elon Musk himself said at the introduction of the Model 3: the entire world production of lithium would be needed for only the delivery of the planned number of Model 3’s.
