Of obscure teams from the ’70s to the Toro Rosso from 2014, but ugly they are piece for piece.
Formula 1 has not only beautiful moments awarded, but also magnificent cars. Of the Lancia D50, through the McLaren-Honda MP4-7, up to the Ferrari F2002. Beautiful F1-cars are, however, mainly the field of companion and racing-connoisseur @mauritsh, that you had the most beautiful Ferrari F1 cars revealed, as well as the most beautiful racing cars from the years ’90.
Without ugly, however not nice and that the men have constructors conscience also. There is since 1968, the year in which the spoiler was introduced in the F1, a lot of experiments. Sometimes it produced wonderful cars, but just as often dragons of racing cars. The cars from the years ’70 and ’80 have their charm, they are the result of thinking out of the box and that has the Formula 1: al is so much beauty. Season 2014 was, however, dominated by weird bulges on the nose, a result of new rules from the FIA and that is simply a shame. Not that they have learned, moreover, because such growths we come -albeit less significant – this season even against the cars. So beautiful and clean, the F1 cars in the early ’90s were so beautiful, they are never more…
Ferrari 126 C2B (1983)
Rarely was a Formula 1 car so out of balance.
BMW WilliamsF1 FW26 (2004)
In 2004, it was BMW that dared to a radically differently shaped nose, something, incidentally, they did not have the desired result brought.
Ensign N179 (1979)
Why should radiateurs actually in the sidepods incorporated? That they asked themselves at the Ensign. The answer they got it quickly enough: because it’s in the nose of the streamline too much disturbed, and it is also very bad smoelt.
Lotus E22 (2014)
Well what should I talk about this a little to say. Seems obvious to me.
Theodore TY01 (1981)
Today there is the front spoiler under the nose, but that was formerly certainly not fixed, as Theodore shows.
Ligier JS5 (1976)
There is, in the ’60s and ’70s quite experimented with the placement of the air intake for the engine. Of small intakes on the sidepods to giant cathedrals behind the driver. This Ligier is the most extreme outgrowth of that latter kind.
Toro Rosso STR9 (2014)
Who has the largest? In 2014, it was Toro Rosso…
March 771 (1971)
If someone has a surfboard across a a not very nice F1 car has fitted. Was undoubtedly the laughing stock of the grid in 1971.
Tyrrell 025 (1997)
None other than Jos the Boss is sitting behind the steering wheel of the Tyrrell X-wings in 1997. In 1998, reed among other Ferrari also with such wings, but they were by the FIA quickly banned it because they are too dangerous to be considered for the pitcrew.
Eifelland 21 (1972)
Ever Eifelland heard? They drove only one season, in 1972, and could be due to lack of money even that year, not finish it. The car was based on the already not-too-best March 721, and then by Luigi Colani restyled.
Honda RA108 (2008)
In 2008, Honda without sponsors, but the car was adorned with a globe. Now, this is not the biggest problem of this car, it is especially the antlers on the nose to which this Honda its inclusion in the list is due.
McLaren M23 (1973)
Absolutely no beauty, but it needs the car to be forgiven: Denny Hulme and Peter Revson took out both the highest step of the podium with this car. In the following years, two championships were won with the M23, and it was also the first F1 car with a zesbak.
Arrows A22 (2001)
The addition of @willeme. It is our Jos Verstappen’t participate, because after the Tyrrell in 1997, is also his Arrows A22 2001 on the list. For some races, including Monaco, the car was equipped with a pretty ugly spoiler on the nose.
