  • Pleasant ride characteristics

Issues

  • The Espace IV of the first years ended invariably in the bottom echelons when betrouwbaarheidsonderzoeken.
  • The 2.2 dCi is practically maintenance-free, you’re better off with the more modern 2.0 dCi.
  • The electric parking brake of four-cylinder diesel engines, piece.
  • The coupling of the four-cylinder diesel engines, above average often.
  • On the 1.9 dCi and 2.2 dCi the EGR valves sometimes stuck in the closed position. If that happens, the temperatures in the engine are too high, with the result that the turbolagers of the piece. Also, there may be oil in the intake system for leaks. This can make sure that the engine itself is rotating, until all the oil is out and the block is going to fail.
  • If the EGR valve on the dCi’s fixed going to sit in the open position, the motor runs irregular, with the turbo damage. Eventually, the turbo piece. Often, this is replaced without the EGR looked at, with the result that the new turbo is quicker to go bad.
  • Slot machines go also above average often. Often this is because the cooling of the automaatolie in the radiator. When fractures occur in this cooling system running coolant into the transmission causing failure.
  • The relay of the brake light sometimes gives a wrong signal in the electrical network, so the ECU is affected. This allows for less power or may even provide for the engine failure. Often this goes together with turboproblemen, but the relay must be replaced in order to solve the problems.
  • The valve cover on the 2.2 dCi is prone to distortion. This allows inlet gases to mix with exhaust gases, can turbo to be less efficient, and can cause the manifold to crack. First signs are loss of power and a Check Engine light.
  • The digital dashboard is still once piece after a year or six (and a new one will cost about €900). However, there are also companies that repairs / revisions, starting from around €150 euro.
  • The steering is above average often.
