The United States has two very large manufacturers (GM, Ford) and a medium-sized manufacturer (Chrysler), are all good for a sloppy 17-18 million cars per year. They produce mainly for the domestic market, and the big two have overseas factories to local production. So, no, it is not an American brand.

Then who? Bayerische Motoren Werke, or BMW. The Germans have a huge factory in Spartanburg (South Carolina), where the X3, X4, X5, X6, and future X7 are made.
