BP Active
From today introduces BP is a new series of fuels in the Netherlands. Both the BP Ultimate and regular BP fuels now have ACTIVE technology, but what is that?

Thanks to this technology claims to BP that the new fuels and the effects of dirt, can fight, from the moment the engine is started. This dirt is bad/cheap basic fuels, it (the fuel that only meets the BS standard) into the engine left behind. Even a small amount of dirt can have a big impact on the performance of an engine. A clean motor is essential to a vehicle to work optimally, we all know that.

Enter BP. That have this ACTIVE technology in the past 5 years developed, with the goal of harmful dirt in motorcycles. This ACTIVE technology (adsorption), works in two ways; the active molecules remove debris from critical engine parts and form a protective layer to the deposition of new debris, to help prevent. This they help the engine smoothly and efficiently, which can lead to larger intervals between fuel purchases made. In addition, they would help the risk of unplanned and costly maintenance to reduce.

To provide proof BP -says – in-depth testing conducted, in which the fuels in more than 110 different test methods (no NEDC) and thousands of testing hours in engines and vehicles (ranging from a small city car to heavy truck) were subjected. This would have shown that the use of BP fuel with ACTIVE technology – regardless of the size of the vehicle results in a cleaner engine.

The good news: according to BP can motors that are cleaned with the new BP Ultimate fuels of the road users to 56 km extra per tank of diesel, with petrol up to 44 km extra per tank*. In addition, the prices are just the same as the ‘old’ Ultimate.

On the question, or as soon as the engine is clean, you bad fuel can use, told BP that in principle could. But the engine finally went the worse it will perform.

ACTIVE technology is now in all BP fuels, both the regular and premium diesel and gasoline, including the truck lane diesel. Use BP diesel with ACTIVE technology in trucks could result in an annual savings of up to 340 litres of fuel in the case of a light truck, and up to 912 litres of fuel in the case of a heavy truck**.

INSTANT UPDATE: today it was announced that energy company BP in a ten-page letter (from 2013), in the hands of The Guardian, has threatened to leave from Europe. In the document it states that : if there are new strict laws would come out with respect to the oil sands, pollution from power plants and scaling up of renewable energy, energy-intensive companies flock to leave. “With corresponding harmful consequences for the security of supply, jobs and growth.” A spokesman for BP told the British newspaper that the letter only was intended to warn of ‘carbon leakage’: the departure from fossil companies by strict CO2 rules, so there is just not enough CO2 reduced would be.

* With the new BP Ultimate Diesel can you up to 56 km per tank extra drive and with the new BP Ultimate Ongelood 98 up to 44 km extra per tank. Based on a consumption of 850 km per tank of diesel and 650 km for petrol. Tested with a series of vehicles against base diesel and base 95 RON petrol. Average improvement of range is 35 miles for BP Ultimate Diesel and 29 km for BP Ultimate Ongelood 98. Actual results may vary per vehicle and driving style.

** Based on an annual mileage of 50,000 km for light truck (gross weight between 3.5 and 7.5 tonnes) and heavy trucks that each year 80,000 km of travel (gross weight of more than 16 tons).
