Shell Concept Car
The designer of the McLaren F1 has in cooperation with Shell this zuinigheidswondertje created. But who wants to drive?

Shell wanted to own a concept car that they want to show what is still possible with fossil fuels. They decided that this concept does not fully develop, but joined in one with Gordon Murray. You will find him especially knowing his design for the McLaren F1, but about six years back, he also designed a clever very small urban car, the T25.

This Shell Concept Car is a further development of that T25, with the much nimbler body if first notice. The air resistance decreased from 0.37 to 0.29 Cw, a substantial reduction. Virtually every part of the T25 is under the microscope and made lighter where possible, thus reducing the weight another 80 pounds lower is 550 pounds. It is practical realizability is not lost, the Shell Concept Car should especially demonstrate what today already is possible in terms of technique.

In the back there is a 660cc-driepittertje from a Smart and also the engine did not escape the necessary adjustments. Think new pistons, valves, but also new lubricants to reduce internal friction. During a first field test took the concept car 1:45 with a speed of 72 km/h. Not bad for a car that can accommodate up to three persons, in which the driver is to the good Murray-use of course in the middle.
