So much room for activities!!!
In Europe, wildly popular, beyond a lot less. Manufacturers bite sometimes piece on this body type

In Northern Europe you can see as everywhere: the station wagon. In all shapes and sizes. In itself very logical, because they offer many benefits without major drawbacks. It turns out to be mainly the Swedish, German and French brands that can do this exploit. Some brands have lots of problems to a vehicle to be able to wear. Recently it became known that Jaguar’s XF Sportbrake has no successor is going to give (even if it is still a blow to the arm). With that, comes this beautiful car in the following list:

Lexus IS300 Sportcross:
With the IS200 made Lexus for the first time, reasonable numbers in Europe. And rightly so, because the car drove at least as good as the BMW 320i and was just a little more original. In 2001, the sedan company of the Sportcross, a typical lifestyle station wagon. A success it was not, mainly because you was stuck on the 3-liter engine with automatic transmission. Later on there was even a manual IS200 available, but then it was already too late. A success is, therefore, never really have been. With the second generation decided to Lexus not for a stationvariant, but a diesel. Also a one-off.

Alfa Romeo 33 Sportwagon:
Today, the market for C-segment station wagons énorm: frugal dieseltjes to Nordschleife record breakers. Alfa Romeo was there early, the Pininfarina-built 33 Sportswagon (in the beginning Giardinetta) was not only a practical car, but also a beautiful. From 1984 until 1994, you could at the Alfa showroom for a station wagon, 145, 146, 147 and the Guilietta are no wagons built.

Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution IX Wagon:
Why is still unclear, but it seems Mitsubishi is a nice idea to have of the Lancer Evolution IX also a station variant to build. Not so very difficult, because of the Cedia/Lancer had always been a wagon. An Evolution version was not just a ‘GTI’ version of the Lancer, the Wagon had to be huge to be grown, the most recognizable is the black ‘air’grill in addition to tail lights to the broadening of masking it. Especially for the Wagon you could get the Lancer also, if automatic transmission, then you got the drivetrain of the Evo VII GT-A. The manual versions did have MIVEC (VTEC, but then Mitsubishi) on the 4G63, which gives this more power. Because they are only as ‘GT’ were available (implementation between the RS and GSR in), had the Wagon no Active Yaw Control. Had the Wagon not necessary, because by the module on the back and the lack of a spoiler was the butt all nice and ‘loose’.

Cadillac CTS Wagon:
In particular, in the United States have wagons a less image. Is mainly because the Wagon there, mainly it was as a transport for multiple people and luggage, as we for a van look. In the 80’s was the Wagon still popular, but with the advent of the MPV ran the question back quickly. Then in the 90’s, the SUV finally broke through was almost done with the station wagon. In 2009, tried to Roll it again with a stationversie of the CTS. Instead of a pakezel, it was a very nice car, more space compared to the sedan offered. For the purist it was the wagon version of the CTS is also available as a CTS-V: with the engine from the Corvette ZR-1 and its manual gearbox. Nice.

Jaguar XF Sportbrake:
The Jaguar XF was in terms of styling a totally new path for Jaguar. Despite the fact that the car is very strong leaned on the chassis of the S-Type/Lincoln LS, was the exterior and interior is very modern and daring for the typically conservative brand. A station wagon was always in the plan, however, was due to various reasons, each time postponed. Eventually, the XF Sportbrake there (after the facelift of the regular XF), albeit only with diesel engines. Later on there was one benzineversie, but that was the insane XF-RS. Absolutely a heldenauto!

Fiat Palio Weekend:
Maybe a clumsy name. The car was not very bad, but very sexless. The yellowed taillights were the highlight of the design. In itself this is logical, because the Palio was a Brazilian Fiat, so a no-nonsense car. The car was not well received and the depreciation was large, but it was a small cult phenomenon. The Palio weekend turned out because of his simple design is pretty indestructible. The only downside was that the petrol versions rather zopen. But a LPG conversion was so quick and easy and made the simple vierpitters nothing. That seemed to be all to walk. A typical car with charm because of what it can be styling or driving characteristics. Actually, the precursor of the Dacia Logan. Word, incidentally, in Brazil is sold in a modified form, but a successor is for the time being.

Volkswagen Polo Variant:
Perhaps the most zouteloze car ever built. Where zustermerk Seat of the Cordoba Vario managed to make the Polo Variant or very tiresome and boring. They found in VW too, because they are completely forget that this car had been built from 1997 to 2001. In 2000, the Polo hatchback is a (quite successful) facelift, but it got the Variant, only the new interior, VW couldn’t make the stationversie a new nose. In 2001, the Polo Variant forever banished from the price lists. That in itself is really remarkable, because the stationversies of Clio, Fabia and Ibiza are the best popular. Here’s an irrelevant video of the Polo Variant.

Jaguar X-Type Estate:
The XF was not even the first Estate of the Jaguar. There was at launch, a lot is expected of the X-Type. When this just came out was the journaille very pleased with the ride quality of the Jaguar’s smallest. If also called, were, without exception, thick-clothed 3.0 V6 benzineversies with automatic transmission and 4wd. To the X-Type more interesting for the average European there was also a version with front-wheel drive, then as diesel, and in 2004 even as a station wagon. If you dislike options, tick the box: by default, was íe on hubcaps. Popular with misbehaving ladies of nobility.

Mercedes-Benz CLS Shooting Brake:
It is, of course, a marketing project plus, but what is the CLS Shooting Brake is a cool thing. If 63 AMG wonderfully over the top and raunchy, but go for a CLS500 with some nice wheels and you have a kind of a Riva for on the Autobahn. In particular, the option for the cherry wood floor is doing what think of the graceful high-speed boats from Italy. The CLS Shooting Brake is known to be the successor there is not going to come up, due to lack of interest. Especially the Chinese, American, Russian and Arab markets, there are not going to wait, while the normal CLS still is in demand. Which is a pity.

Chrysler 300C Touring / Dodge Magnum:
The 300 was to Chrysler a huge leap forward in terms of sales. What the 2005 Mustang did for Ford, did the 300 for Chrysler. With a retro design an enormous audience to speak. Even in Europe the is 300 was a modest success. To strengthen came to Chrysler with the 300C Touring. It was in the back of the Dodge Magnum (which is on the same LX platform. The Touring was only available in Europe, Japan and Australia. Despite the fact that the 300 is very American, it was built in Canada (Sedan) or Austria (Touring). Available with dullness, V6, koppelrijke diesels from Mercedes or just unnecessary Hemi achtcilinders.

Cadillac BLS Wagon:
Actually a gevalletje X-Type. They went to Cadillac, however, a step further. The X-Type was a compact Mondeo with a unique appearance and interior. The Cadillac BLS was a Saab 9-3 with a slightly different front and rear. The Audi A4 Avant 2.0 TDI, BMW 320d Touring and Mercedes-Benz C220 CDI Combi were without prejudice popular in Europe, so there is a also a diesel station came from Cadillac, in the form of the BLS Wagon 1.9 d. A dreary Cadillac interpretation of the Saab 9-3 SportCombi. In 2009 it was already over.

Volvo V50:
This is perhaps the most remarkable, because in Europe this was a huge hit. Rightly so, because the were all fine cars. Although not as spacious as the old 850’s or 740’s, but for the representative, with wife, child and a hobby the ideal car. In terms of appearance, there was also nothing wrong with that and in terms of engines, you could go for modest (1.6 diesel) to enjoy exuberant (T5 R-Design). The current V40 is a hatchback, while the V60 is clearly a size larger. Perhaps in the longer term again.

Volvo V50 T5

Honorable mention for the Saab 9-3/0-5 Estate and Rover 75/MG ZT Estate. These are not listed because the manufacturers in question decided at all, no cars more to build. The Seat Exeo ST is not listed because the Exeo at all, no successor was given. Forgotten gems may always and forever be fixed in the comments!
