Alfa Romeo 1900 C52
The request was for a while. Following the Zagato articles (beautiful & ugly), or we also, a light could shine on the creations of Touring. But of course: you ask, we run!

Carrozzeria Touring in 1926 founded as Felice Anderloni and Gaetano Ponzoni Carrozzeria Falco take over. Like @autoblogger decisions the two lawyers their hobby into a business. In the beginning, are the rather low-key jobs that they do. Sheet metal work in behalf of especially Alfa Romeo, that work.

In the meantime, it is particularly Anderloni busy to think about the design of sports cars. Anderloni was very impressed by the work of Charles Terres Wyman. Wyman was aviator and knew successful vliegtuigtechniek to apply in the construction of automobiles. He had various businesses, but earned the most money of the grant of the license to use its patents, including Touring.

On the basis of that project developed Anderloni his own technique. Without very deep to go into: light-weight, tubular chassis for extra strength with this lightweight aluminum sheet metal, which is a degree of ‘flex’ allowed it. This construction was not only very strong but also very light. Hence, this method Superleggera (superlight) was called. Last advantage was the flexibility that was there in terms of design. The most beautiful are listed below.

Alfa Romeo 6C 2500 S Berlinetta (1939)
This is one of the cars which is the special status of Alfa Romeo confirms. It is the last time a little kwakkelen, but what a brand. Before Enzo Ferrari thought of cars were Alfa’s all the imagination cars. The 6C 2500 was the last Alfa 6C street-legal car, and then one of the most expensive cars you could buy.

BMW 328 Touring Coupé Mille Miglia (1939)
Not only the 2002 and E30 M3 in a BMW sporting image, the 328 laid the foundations for this. The 328 is a classic-BMW: an atmospheric six-in-line with rear-wheel drive. Also in the motorsport was the 328 competitive. Successes have been achieved at Le Mans. The biggest achievement was the win of the Mille Miglia. The zespitters were performed to 135pk. Thanks to the unladen weight of just 780kg and the low air resistance brought out the 328 at an average speed of more than 160 km/h.

Ferrari 166 Inter Berlinetta (1948)
The first Ferrari for the street was the 166 Inter. This one had a chassis designed by Lampredi, a V12 signed by Colombo and a carriage designed by Touring. These are further names. The result was there. Instead of a race car for the road was the 166 Inter, a true Gran Turismo, with a 110 hp strong 2-litre V12.

Alfa Romeo 1900 Super Sprint Superleggera (1951)
If there is one car, however, is where there are countless coachbuild versions of it, whether it is the Alfa Romeo 1900. The 1900 can be seen as a distant ancestor of the Alfa 166. It was a very sporty car for its time. Not only because of the power of up to 100hp (the 1900 TI even had 115hp!), but also because of the chassis (independent front suspension, telescopic shock absorbers, drum brakes). This solid base was the platform for many creations, including the BAT series of Bertone, and the implementation of Touring was one of the most elegant.

Alfa Romeo 1900 C52 ‘Disco Volante’ (1952)
A car is only really legendary if the type name is not even mentioned, but the pet name. Remember the Ferrari Daytona or the Ruf Yellow Bird. Just as the Sprint is the C52 built on the brilliant platform of the Alfa 1900. The bodywork was very so special to call it a nickname: the Flying Saucer.

Disco Volante

Pegaso Z-103 Berlinetta (1955)
Pegaso was a Spanish manufacturer of buses and trucks, but they have a short period of time particularly beautiful cars made. Really successful, was it not, because the cars were quite heavy, which are competitive in the racing very hard. The engines were also quite: thick 8-cylinders with a lot of power. True GT’s. Due to the fact that Pegaso’s still over-engineered, merged or combined, the autotak after 7 years of cup under.

Hudson Italia (1954)
Following In the footsteps of Chrysler decided Hudson in touch with an Italian koetswerkbouwer. Chrysler had a couple of wonderful prototypes and Hudson also wanted to have some elegance to the range to add. Speed was not necessary, because the Hornet had Hudson a winner in the house. See if the Hellcat of the 50s. The Hudson Italia was on the platform of the compact Jet, and was actually the first Pony Car, 10 years for the Mustang. Of the 50 planned units, there are actually 26 produced.

Maserati 3500GT (1959)
The 3500GT was the successor of the Maserati A6. This six cylinder car was there as a coupe (Touring) and a little later also as a convertible (Vignale). In contrast to many other designs: here, there are plenty of built, and this is a Touring which you could possibly purchase, if you have about two ton piece can save on a car. This or a Bentayga? In contrast to the Bentley got you in the 3500GT standard clocks from a quality manufacturer (Jaeger le Coultre). The smaller version should also be sure.

O. S. C. A. 1600 GT Touring (1961)
On the advice of @Dizono. One of the most clean and successful sketches of all time. It is a rare well-proportioned whole. The version of the Zagato (which was built for Touring) was particularly beautiful, by the way. Also the versions of Fissore, and Morelli were tranentrekkend nice, but the Touring version beat everything. This is the last car built by the brothers Maserati.

Lancia Flaminia Convertible (1963)
From the time that Lancia’s last real Lancia’s. The Flaminia was the successor of the legendary Aurelia, so a larger sedan with the special V6 engines of Lancia (Lancia was the first with a V6). The Flaminia was there as a Berlina (sedan) or Coupe (Pininfarina). In command of Lancia built Touring GT, GTL and Convertible. These were on a shortened chassis of the Flaminia. Crazy enough was at the Flaminia, the open version better than the closed one. Of the Convertible, there are 180 units were built.

Lamborghini 350 GT (1964)
The story of Lamborghini may be known: Feruccio was not satisfied, Enzo remained stubborn and it came to pass. Or it’s 100 percent true, remains to be seen, because Lamborghini had already been working with the idea of a sports car. But even without the romantic story, the 350 GT was an absolute gem. From every angle it is a particularly beautiful design. To Ferrari extra thwart, had to all parts of the 350GT extra strong to be performed. They were out to book as very reliable. @CasperH will soon have an Autoblog Advice. The Espada, he has already treated.

Lamborghini 350GT

Aston Martin DB5 (1964)
Perhaps the most iconic car, especially with license plate BMT 216A. That was the car of the case of an alcoholic womanizer from Scotland. But even without that onliner-oracle is a car which quite always particularly delightful to the eye is to be called. In addition to the DB5 was Touring also responsible for the construction of the DB6, the DB4 was also the design done.

In het groen eigenlijk mooier dan in het grijs

Lamborghini Touring Flying Star (1966)
The Lamborghini Touring Flying Star was a Shooting Brake version of the Lamborghini 400 GT. The idea was to make an ideal GT to develop. A fast car, with enough luxury and space for all the luggage. It unfortunately remained a prototype. This was the last real Touring. The demand for coachbuilders evaporated and Touring decided its doors.

Flying Star

Of course it is beautiful, beautiful and beautiful is very subjective. We have, unfortunately, not all models may add to it, because in contrast to Zagato, they are all very successful designs. If you have one miss, you should definitely mention it in the comments!
