When Aston Martin earlier this year, a badge on the RB12-racer of Red Bull Racing attached was immediately promised that we also have a jointly-developed street-legal car would go see it. Now it is confirmed that there is of which street-legal car is also a race-variant. Meta-level.
Most of the 99 AM-RB 001’s will street versions, but there are also a number of specially prepared for the circuit. Thus, design-hero Adrian Newey:
“The cars are very closely related, but they are different. The track-only car has bigger wheels, bigger wings and you don’t have to put on some of the things that you have to put onto the road car. In principle, if you kept swapping parts you could convert one version from the other, but I’m not sure why you’d want to buy a product then cut it around to make it something different.”
He has a point, but on the other hand, who has, anyway, a stereo is needed in which hypercar, even if it is for straatgebruik intended. More interesting is the variant for the circuit is optimized, Silverstone in the same time must be able to omronden as a F1-bolide. That was the objective that the CEO of Aston Martin Andy Palmer spoke at the launch of the project in March.

The technical details are still largely unknown. What we do know is that the car a two-seater with a mid-engine layout and a hybrid powertrain.
