Max Roadster
Lightweight, well-proven technology and affordable, that there were three ingredients that in the late ’80, early ’90’s attempted the brand MAX to get off the ground. Without success, only 17 were built, and one of them could be yours.

Mid 80’s starts the Helmondse Kick Design with the development of a small sports car. They decide not to itself the wheel to reinvent, and knocking in to PSA for the technique. Chassis, a powertrain will be borrowed from the Citroen AX GT, 1.4 with 84. Another visible link with PSA are the taillights, that of the Peugeot 405.

The body is made of plastic, making the tare worse 772 pounds, respectively. Initially builds Max the car as a Roadster, but the idea is that you have the car by means of modular parts to build up Coupe, Shooting Brake and even a type of pickup. Probably a bit copied from the Nissan EXA/Pulsar NX 1986, already was in that car, the roof above the driver fixed and it was only the back to change.

MAX Roadster

Although the car with a price of about 45.000 guilders competitively priced it was compared to other roadsters, the car is therefore also twice as expensive as the AX GT, where he was based. The production was not good and eventually there are only 17 copies made for the factory in 1993, went bankrupt. It seems that the contents for a further five instances are reduced, and also, it is not entirely clear whether this first prototype, in which 17 occurrences is counted, or that this is actually number 18.

It doesn’t really matter, because rare is the MAX Roadster anyway. Moreover, the fact that this copy is the very first prototype is extra special. A disadvantage has also, according to Catawiki, because the fit is not as good and the seams are pretty big. Opposite to this, is that this piece of Dutch automotive history, as yet, a highest bid of 1500 euro.
