Audi let us get acquainted with the A9

Ok, you clicked to a thick über-coupe based on the A8, of course, but that is not the point here. The marketingmannen of Audi have just as good a humour as we do and have the Bundesautobahn 9, or A9, used as a testing ground for ‘Jack’. Bundesautobahn 9 is a German autobahn that Berlin connects it with Munich. The first pieces were just as many German roads mid-30’s built. Jack is the pet name that the Audi engineers have given to their Audi A7 with “piloted driving” technology.

Audi lets us know that Jack is always better to deal with dangerous situations on the road. Now, those situations may not be as dangerous as between 1945 and 1966 when the autobahn bridge across the Saale missed that blown up by the German troops, but still. Jack gives everyone plenty of space and sets itself up as a friendly driver.

The test program also includes developments in the objects along the way. Currently watching Audi together with technical partners, for example, to what materials can best be noticed by the ‘eyes’, i.e. the sensors, Jack. Create posts and plates of this material and you’re already a step further. For the coming years are even more projects on the planning around Ingolstadt to autonomous driving closer.
