Alarming figures: according to a report from the EU commission for Safety that next Wednesday is published, it is the number of road deaths in the European Union for the first time since 2001 have increased.
There would be in 2015 26.000 deaths to deplore, 300 more than in 2014. And that is worrying, because since 2001, we had, without exception, with a decreasing trend. However, we should note that since 2001 the number of road deaths more than halved, because when there were still 54.000 deaths per year in the EU. There were 135.000 people seriously wounded, most of them pedestrians, cyclists and the elderly.
Incidentally, came to the Netherlands there is relatively good from: we are the third on the list of safest countries of Europe, with 26 deaths per million inhabitants per year. Only Sweden and Malta are safer. The average fall in to 51.5 fatalities per 1 million inhabitants. The most unsafe countries to be in the street are Bulgaria, Romania (95 / 1.000.000) and Latvia (94 / 1.000.000).
An explanation for the increase in the number of deaths is not yet given, but it would put us on the editorial’t be surprised if the to the smartphones. The solution also seems obvious: all traffic regulations override.
