It was quite a hard crash, but there seemed to be at first glance surprisingly low to the hand. Alonso could just be quiet in the F1 car away, walk away, and very little was left. Now it appears that something more serious is all.

Alonso has this morning an extensive medical check and is not fit enough for this weekend to race in Bahrain, McLaren announced. It was a medical examination of 90 minutes, and Alonso won’t be racing, ‘following the FIA doctor’s decision”.

The Belgian Stoffel Vandoorne should now take over. This is the official test driver for McLaren, who are now preparing for a F1 debut. A pity that this way must, of course, but a better exercise for the 24-year-old Belgian is there does not seem to us…
