Sébastien Loeb was absent on Pikes Peak. Reason: he wanted the record deal at Goodwood this year.

Unfortunately for him, I didn’t, and his 875 hp Peugeot 208 T16 (which he won last year’s Pikes Peak record, pulverized) was not fast enough to the time of Nick Heidfeld in the McLaren MP4/13 in 1999, to improve. Loeb came exactly three seconds deficit with his time of to 44.6 seconds.
