Safety first
From 1 July it is mandatory in Germany a warning vest on board, an obligation that is already in many a European country, but not in the Netherlands. It is time to do so?

Although I, myself, was always in the assumption wrong that the obligation in Germany already existed, this was only for business cars the case. But it is the eastern neighbours is made easy, they can be the things free pick-up at inspectieorganisatie DEKRA. Each vehicle must have one vest for the driver are present, motorcyclists are excluded from the duty.

In neighboring Belgium, there is a duty for veiligheidshesjes, and also in France, this is the case. In Spain, they go even further: not only out of a broken car you need such a thing, but also when you use certain hand and money grants.

A list of other European countries (in German) can be found here. It is time for the Netherlands to add to it, or is this the responsibility of the motorist to leave?

In the past we held a poll about veilgheidshesjes, the outcome was as follows: 55% have a jacket on board (possibly also because it has been made compulsory where they live), 45% not.
