We regularly see extreme rally crashes in the past, but this beats everything.
Driver Ott Tänak and co-driver Raigo Molder were just three kilometers on the road when disaster struck. Tänak hit a rock and damaged it front suspension, so the Ford Fiesta is completely ungovernable. The pair had the bad luck that they have a small lake along the way behind the next bend, because they very well understand what was going on, sank the WRC car to the bottom.
Tänak and Molder could happily speed out of their car, climbing (indeed Molder, even saving his pacenotes), but you must not think of what could happen if one of the two belts are not loose. The Ford disappeared within thirty seconds, completely under water, while the team of M-Sport had no idea where the duo left off. It took namely less than seventeen (!) minutes for the team getting the two crashed, but were unharmed from the car.
After nine hours was the Ford out of the lake and fished, so it is a wonder that the onboard footage of this adventure have survived.
