Rumors about a revival of Audi’s Quattro concept, did all the round, and they swell up now and again. Just reached us detailed but unofficial information about the new Sport Quattro.
Where the Quattro concept from 2010 (408 hp from a 2.5 TFSI) still based on A5 platform, seems to be the Sport Quattro (SQ) is closer to the RS7. At the base is not the MQB, but the MLB platform. The length is approximately 4,70 metres, where the Quattro just 4,28 metres long. This is the back room for two additional passengers, provided they, at the lines continuous in a brace-position.
Audi is now in terms of innovation on all sides by the competition caught up (*cough* i8 *cough*), and that it was high time to come with an answer. Car and Driver should apparently just on the coffee in the design center, and comes with a detailed explanation.
This is probably why there is chosen to BUILD a plug-in hybrid. An electric motor of around 150 horsepower, powered by a battery pack at the bottom of the trunk must, in combination with the known 4-litre V8, 600 hp, sure. This would mean that the achtcilinder in S-, instead of RS-specification, is fitted (although other sources mention about a souped-up V8, resulting in a total of 800+ hp should arise. We will see.).
In the design we see clearly recognisable Quattro-design elements, such as the characteristic thick C-style. A green light for a production version is not yet given, but is a small run of up to 333 copies (just like the R8 GT and the A1 Quattro was the case) was possible, probably over a year or 2-3.
The exhibitors must take care as there likkebaardende Russians come. Their new love for hybrids is not purely on the league, if we have some parties may believe.
Again: the above info we have is not first hand, so we can only 100% confirm once Ingolstadt decision the lips of each other. Until that time, of course, speculation.
