This weekend was the premiere of two new Dutch autoprogramma: RTL Autovisie and SBS Big Boys.
RTL Autovisie
As the name suggests, this is a program of Autovisie on RTL (7). It takes one hour and is broadcast on Friday at 22h. The presenters are Eddy Zoey and Werner Budding, there begins immediately the first problem. I understand that it is a well-known presenter wants to add to a TV program, but Eddy Zoey is now through with all the channels out? He has a lot of ‘experience’, but in terms of TV there are few successes to consider. That would seem to be a wrong choice. He loved, in this case, the round-table conversation nice going on, but substantively, it was Werner that the quality brought.
Autovisie acts already for years as the voice of Donkervoort, also in the program, it was back to the brand has been exhibited extensively. For the sake of clarity: there is nothing wrong with Donkervoort, but it seems to be a kind of obsession (or sponsorship) because of the enormous amount of attention that the brand continues to get.
Anyway, after the Donkervoort intro was moved to a studio. A whole, in TopGear style, but with less public… much less in public. That looked a little pitiful. Guests were Niki Terpstra (owner M3 and X5, named after Lauda) and Bram Moszkowicz, the owner of an old Vanquish and BMW 7-series). As I said was the conversation between the guests was really funny, though Bram is now a standard choice has become as a guest of talk show. Just as standard as the choice for the person Maarten van Rossum, a caricature of itself. In regard to that fit that choice well at Eddy, but his ‘driving test’ I found little to add. That was also filmed entirely with a gopro…
An initiative to do what inhoudelijks to add was the item with the dusty Autovisie editor-in-chief, who, with a vodje old paper on the wave was. Blah-blah story about own examination of consumption figures, something which we and other media have been for years. As the epitome of the investigation, they showed also a figure to see, including the source of icct. Really a first. That source was also unique for Autovisie.
SBS Big Boys
Big Boys is a programme of half an hour, made by Sanoma (Autoweek) and is broadcast on SBS. The two brands have been here for several years doing(!), since the acquisition of SBS by Sanoma is there already spoken of a autoprogramma. We asked us immediately whether we’re dealing with the promotion of gender imbalance in the program name or funny to do to people with being overweight? It turned out that last, the presenters of the Big Boys are actor/presenter, Edo Brunner and AutoWeek editor-in-chief Roland Tameling, both no small kids.
The biggest problem of this program is the time, that is on Saturday afternoon at 16:35. Not really a moment which a lot of people about to watch TV, or go stay at home. But for the rest, I was positively surprised by the format. Autoweek videos are often not to go through, but in this case, it was very airy and natural presented. A lot more passion/enthusiasm than at Autovisie, more original guests (George Baker), and a lot more creativity in the broadcast. And clever, they found a woman in have processed (not pretty, but relevant/mechanic).
Conclusion
Both of these programs were dramatic in terms of ratings. It had 50.000 viewers for Big Boys and 176.000 for RTL Autovisie. That is very very bad, our own week(!) program RTL Autoblog had overall better ratings. Big Boys had, however, the largest share of the market compared with RTL Autovisie, looking in the afternoon because less people.
The diknekken have for me this battle is won, the presenters have a significantly higher gunfactor and more with cars. Only the ‘pity’ that in view of the time very few people to go and have a look. The only real winner is the might of BMW, which this week with the i8 a lot of airtime has been on TV (in both programs).
