Seven years ago, we were surprised by the promise of a resurrection of the brand Avions Voisin. We may have expected, or we can add the project to the long list of paper-EG’banners which have nothing to produce? Autoblog sought it out.
Avions Voisin has a French origin, with roots in the aerospace industry. After the First world War the company concentrated, as many aircraft manufacturers forced to did, on the construction of cars. Luxury cars with lots of aluminum and a special character. Such as connecting the front fenders to the radiator, a detail of the aviation industry.
In 2009 suggested two Delft engineers that they are the brand new life would blow. A hangar at the former airbase Twente was set up as a workshop, there was cooperation with the University of Twente, and we had sketches of a new model.
“What is currently happening around Avions Voisin? I pay the rent of the stables!’ The answer of Matthijs Meulenbelt is clear, at this moment, the work around the car is stationary. ‘But he is on wheels,’ he adds, ‘and it is intended that this year again what will happen.’
We wrote earlier that the car might be built in the spirit of Gabriel Voisin. When the intention was to make each year a limited number of cars to build, with numbers of between twenty and fifty were called. There is not yet come, but Meulenbelt, there doesn’t seem to suffer. “There is currently no bodywork on, but that is indeed a Voisin an important part. I will let you know when we resume?’ Like.
