Earlier today, you got already a list with Geneva-firsts from the period to 1990 is presented, this time we tackle 1991-2005. Lots of goodies, from Aston Martin and Ferrari to frivolous cars of Opel and Renault.
Following In the footsteps of part 1, where we are important or special firsts to 1990, look at names, here is the second part.
1991: Mercedes S-Class (W140)
Of all of the S-Class’s, this is probably the most typical. A Cathedral, with a capital K. In this time, the pinnacle of technological progress, all had the S-Class is the in the beginning without achteruitrijsensoren do. In place thereof there were behind the corners of two parkeerhulpjes. Small rods that make up event, so that you could better estimate how long the car was.
1993: Aston Martin DB7
What began as a project to create a Jaguar E-Type-successor, to design, through out in this beautiful Aston Martin DB7. In terms of styling the first modern Aston Martin, in terms of design, with many borrowed parts (lamps, 323F, mirrors of a Citroën CX and a lot of Ford in the interior), is still a real classic Aston Martin.
1996: Jaguar XK (X100)
Three years later, it was also Jaguar’s coupe, the now classic XJS had to follow. Subcutaneous shared this XK (X100) the necessary components with the DB7, the two brands were then still under the flag of Ford Motor Company.
1997: Audi A6 (C5)
With this A6 was Audi a hefty kwaliteitsstap and they were able for the first time seriously the attack to open on the BMW 5 Series and Mercedes E-Class. In addition, they were moreover helped by the fact that the Mercedes W210 quality not even near the level of the legendary W124. A year later saw the A6 Avant in the same fair light.
1999: Ferrari 360 Modena
In 1999, it was over and out for the fabulous F355, actually a large converted 348TB, and it was the turn of the strikingly designed 360 Modena. The look was a nod to the past, to the 250 LM to be exact.
2000: Opel Speedster
Heuj, frivolity from Germany! Following In the footsteps of the Lotus Omega was once again in Hethel we, this time for the bonded aluminium chassis of the Lotus Elise. Then unscrewed Opel a nice angular carriage with two superimposed registers. Especially with the vicious 2.0 Turbo a real widowmaker. This year, the stunning GT Concept in Geneva, ga that will sleep build Opel!
2001: Renault Vel Satis
With the Safrane did Renault, but not to penetrate to the higher segment and so was his successor chose a different approach. In place of a conventional hatchback or saloon car, the Vel Satis is much higher and therefore more spacious. A brilliant idea, combined with beautiful exterior and nice interior, but no success. That was also BMW, that the concept jatte for the 5 GT.
2002: Volkswagen Pheaton
Presented by Volkswagen in 2001, the Passat W8 as a top model in Geneva, a year later it was relieved by the Phaeton. The car was a prestige project, through printed by Ferdinand Piëch. The Phaeton was a brilliant car, but for that money they bought prefer a S-Class, 7 Series or an A8. Recently rolled out the last copies from the band. Most beautiful piece of the car: the brackets of the rear door.
2005: Citroën C6
We continue to be a little hang out in the devil’s own hand, top models, because in 2005 it was the turn of the C6. Finally, for the first and similar in concept came from 1999. The C6 was eventually four years later in production than planned, but was looking back, perhaps the last Citroën of the old stamp. In 2012 was over and out for the C6, all glimmer of something on the horizon.
