Vijf generaties: pick your favourite!
Compare the sound of all the BMW M5’s so far and pick your favourite!

Thirty years and five generations of M5, so far as we have now come. To start with, the BMW E28 M5, this car knew in 1984 his debut (unveiling at the AutoRAI in Amsterdam!) and is equipped with the 3.5-litre six-cylinder in-line M88/3 engine with 286 hp. Followed by the E34 M5 with a 3.6-litre six-cylinder in-line with 311 hp (in 1991, this block by a 3.8 version with 335 hp replaced). This E34 was from 1988 to 1995 built.

My personal favorite from the M5 series is the E39 M5 in 1998 and is on the market. This is the first M5 with a V8, 4.9 litre S62 block delivers 400 hp. In 2005, following the E60 M5 with a 5.0 litre V10 which is good for 507 horsepower. After that follows the most recent model, the F10 M5. Equipped with a 4.4 liter V8 turbo that is good for 560 horsepower (or 575 with the Competition Package). In terms of sound, this is the least (the rev limiter doesn’t help, of course) I think, although you see at the sixth M5 that there is something more out of it with an exhaust system from Akrapovic.
