They should piece. All.
Two years ago elektrificeerde BMW more than a thousand of the 1 Series, which the Germans a huge testvloot created to electrical engineering for the later i3 and i8 to the test. From outside, saw the car like a regular 1 Series Coupé (E82), subcutaneous with a 170 hp strong electric motor, powered by a 32 kWh lithium-ion battery pack in the cabin that the car has a range of approximately 150 km managed to get. No actieradiuswonder, but after the MINI ActiveE is a nice attempt to make a modern EV to build. (Rijtestvideo HERE.)
It was, however, in no car for sale. In fact, he was only for a select few in the lease will be made available. The netherlands got a piece or 30, in which the first itself by BMW boss Norbert Reithofer was handed over in Rotterdam.
Now the lease terms of these driving test beds on their end, ask EV-lovers wondering what to do with the car’s going to happen. There are, after all, enough ActiveE drivers who want to take over. The answer: seventy copies go to the BMW DriveNow-deelautoprogramma – kind of Car2Go in San Francisco, a number of going back to Munich for research, and the rest of the fleet is above fate. The car take over may not.
A horror for the EV-lovers, such a trailer full of gecrushte ActiveE’s on this photo of a BMW ActiveE-name. BMW was also quick to as ogre backed up, with the comparison that they are no better than General motors, that all copies of the electric EV1 from 1996 terugriep and then by the schredder got (check out the documentary Who Killed the Electric Car for the complete picture).
But the reality is that BMW has always said that the cars are eventually recycled again would be. The battery and powertrain are taken out for BMW’s Battery Second-Life project, the rest should be piece. Because what should they do with it? After all, second-hand items to resell is something that the oems do not. And they are on the road keeping means is at least 10 years, mandatory spare parts produce. Not logical for a testvloot that his work has done.
So for all EV-gekkies that a melancholic feeling at the sight of a dented BMW ActiveE on a trailer: don’t cry, this was part of the deal. Thanks to these cars, BMW has now the i8. And the i8 is cool.
