Porsche brings an old piece of candy to Geneva

The name is RS60, 718 RS60. As if they were in Switzerland not yet have enough of that Milka chocolate.

Because the Porsche Boxster today, due to the life with a blown four cylinder engine under the hood, working Porsche’s purple pants in Geneva are working overtime to tell us that it all follow. Probably they know in Stuttgart also known that we are lovers a little bit of whiskey on the ground throw because of the departure of that lovely atmospheric six burner Boxer engine, which the previous Boxster still continue to be had. Ok, the horsepower and the performance improved and the paper consumption is falling, but that is the chilly truth of the spec sheet. The heart also wants what.

And so you try Porsche on our emotion in to play by a original 718 spyder on the show floor to showcase. Is always good of course, such a slender, old, racebolide. Porsche the new Boxster (and Cayman) not for nothing 718 mentioned. The original 718, built from 1957 to 1962, was the successor of the 550A Spyder. The link with the new Boxster and Cayman is do not agree at all to take it as a cynical marketing; also the old 718 had a very mid-engine under the hood. This was 1.5 litres and produced a respectable 143 horsepower. Not wrong in that time for an atmospheric block.

Or the new 718 variants ever in the shadow of the original remains to be seen. It is, in spite of the similarities, of course, also a car with a very different mission for Porsche.
