March 21 in history: the first tweet, the beginning of sales of Apple TV and the first supersonic bear

21 March 2006 the world’s first tweet. It was written in a more closed social networks the founder of Twitter (and who else would he trust?!) Jack Dorsey: “just setting up my twttr” (“just set up his Twitter account”).

The idea of Twitter came up with Dorsey when he worked at Odeo, which was engaged in the podcasts. He looks tired to answer the questions: “How are you? What are you doing?” and decided to create a service to notify its practice all friends together. Initially Twitter (then it was called twttr) worked via SMS, and that’s where the legs grow known limitations: 140 characters for one tweet. The fact that an SMS message gets to 160 Latin characters, but 20 of them Dorsey has reserved under the name of the user. So the technology, which appeared in the ‘ 80s, has defined the format of communication of people online at the end of the first ten years of the twenty-first century. Very quickly, the service became popular on the Internet, at the same time began to appear smartphones, and to them came a lot of Twitter customers.

Modern Twitter

Today, to clothe thoughts in short form prefers 300 million people. Besides, Twitter is one of the quickest channels of news distribution. If something happened, the first I’ll write about this in Twitter. For example, in 2009, when the plane emergency landing on the Hudson river near new York city, the first photo from the scene of the accident appeared on Twitter. Over the years, “toplam” joined artists, astronauts, Arab revolutionaries and even the Pope.

In early 2016 a list of the most popular “veteran” looks like this:

  • Katy Perry @katyperry
  • Justin Bieber @justinbieber
  • Taylor swift @taylorswift13
  • Barack Obama @’s Presidency
  • YouTube @YouTube

March 21, 2007 went on sale Apple TV. Filling TV box was not very fast, but quite “adult” computer. The device worked for Intel Pentium M processor (the same set in cheap notebooks of the time), had 256 MB RAM and 40 GB hard drive. The role of the operating system performed a modified version of Mac OS X.

At first, the Apple TV could not do without a computer with iTunes — it was broadcast or sinhronizovano content. Only a year later released a firmware update that enabled directly from console to buy and rent movies from the iTunes store.

First generation Apple TV

Following two generations of Apple TV have been arranged quite differently. They worked on iOS — the same operating system used in smartphones iPhone — and were deprived of the hard drive. Anyway, these consoles from the point of view of the filling constituted “IPhones” without screen, but with video output. Returned hard drives in the console just to the fourth generation, which came out in late 2015. Then learned Apple TV to run iOS apps (more precisely, adapted them for TV version).

On March 21, 1962 a bear became the first creature, which survived the ejection at supersonic speed. In 50-ies of the last century, Americans worked to supersonic bomber Convair B-58 Hustler. At the same time, the engineers developed a special ejection seat that can save the pilot even when running at very high speed. Of course, the chair had to be not only on mannequins, and on my call, bears. The fact is that some breeds of these animals size and weight are very similar to humans. On this day, the bear, nicknamed Yogi ejected from the plane in a chair with rocket boosters at an altitude of 10 kilometers, and after 8 minutes, landed with a parachute. Capsule, has reliably protected the animal from the air strike and cold, so the bear has not been damaged.

The first “supersonic” bear

Statistically, the bears have been more “tenacious” in the testing of supersonic catapult: while a team of people were killed, none of the bears were not injured. The irony is that every animal killed after landing for a full examination of the body.
