One in five Dutch refuses to let them drive by a self-propelled car, according to research. But there are also people who have a positive attitude towards technical progress.
Multiscope did a survey among 1020 Dutch to find out how we are currently facing autonomous driving. Of that group gave 62% to be positive about self-propelled cars, while the remaining 38% negative is opposed to the developments. The average expectation is that we are about five years autonomous cars in our streets will encounter. Surprise: that will earlier are already happening, thanks to our minister of transport.
The respondents expect more security (56%), a better flow of traffic (12%) and more durability (10%) of autonomous vehicles. Yet 82% believe that a driver always has the steering wheel needs to take over. It also contains 75% that there is always someone with a driving licence on board. This need not to be sober: only one-third of the respondents find it necessary that there is a sober person with driving license is present in the car.
Slightly less than half of the respondents had no difficulty pulling the strings from the hands and would without a doubt in an autonomous car. However, 21% indicate that this never will do, while 33% neutral answered.
Autonomous driving is, according to the respondents for a number of situations very practical.

Funny factoid: despite the fact that many big car brands at this moment, autonomous vehicles are developing, Google is the most well-known developer among the respondents.
