Comanche. It is a cool word, but what does it mean again?
I get associations with a hakbijl or a gevechtshelicopter, but originally the name Comanche from a group of Native Americans (indians is not politically correct). Because they are better riding than Anky van Grunsven and also warriors without fear, ruled they ever invulnerable all over their vast territory. You can now also do, as long as you Jeep Comanche knows how to get hold of.
Also the Comanche is a concept built in honor of Jeep’s Easter safari. The Comanche is based on so’n tough Jeep Renegade. It will be no coincidence that in the TV-series Renegade and one of the main roles played by a Native American.
However, there is quite a bit of saw in the ‘cute-ute’, which resulted in a soft-top roof for the inside in the front. For occupants in the back, there are no chairs more, because those are gone in favor of a pickup bed. You can, of course, as a true ‘renegade’ to sit down, but look out for the nation’s popo.
The Comanche looks somewhat like a military vehicle with his light brown coat colour, reminiscent of the military Hummers Us army. That Hummer H1’s true that Indian from Renegade, also in rolled. Jeep calls this color scheme itself ‘Beige Against the Machine’. Nice found, but it does have the coolness of such a utilitarian thing that kind of hip marketing.
Nevertheless, see the Comanche there robust in the beige. The black bonnet, steel rear bumper and spare wheel in the back to create the look. On the inside is the back-to-basics theme, among others continued with Mopar all-weather mats. Very useful if you tough through the rain to drive and the cap will not close because you are one with the elements.
Under the hood resides a suspiciously European-looking 2.0-litre diesel, paired to a 9-speed automatic and Jeep’s Active Drive Lock, so that you through everything coming in the ‘urban jungle’.
