Trackguide: dit moet je weten over Zandvoort
Our series with Trackguides coincided with the Formula 1 calendar. Nice, but what are the do’s and don’ts on that beautiful circuit in the Dutch dunes?

With the Junkyardrace the prospect of (more than two weeks, it is quite far!) it seemed a suitable moment to start the circulation again, under the microscope. Although the previously mentioned race, especially in the sign of friendliness and good sportsmanship, you of course want to be as close as possible to come close to that standard time of 2:25 min. Please note: this time is used as a reference, in which use is made of the chicane for the Scheivlak. But we are ahead of ourselves! Let’s start with a circle circuit.

Tarzan corner

Tarzanbocht

A particular characteristic curve, this spacious hairpin. In addition, this executioner is already a part of the circuit since the beginning, and that’s a nice idea as you go through them blows. The braking point depends rather on the car that you drive. Last year, Team Autoblog with the well known Mondeo somewhere between 150 and 100 metres before the bend in the anchors, with a top speed of around 175 km/h.

Note that the apex is much further ahead in the curve than you might think. The motto is: long stay brakes, lets submit it as early as possible on the gas. But well, that are sort of the basics of the autoracerij so that you already knew.

Gerlachbocht

Gerlachbocht

From the tarzan corner, it seems a small handle on the way to the Hugenholtzbocht, but don’t be mistaken! Many accidents take place in the Gerlachbocht, perhaps because many drivers the nod to be underestimated. You will, however, the brakes have to bend to pick up. Make sure at the release of the Gerlachbocht that you are not too far to the outside. The Hugenholtzbocht is short behind, and so you will find your entry does not have to ruin.

Hugenholtzbocht

Hugenholtzbocht

A rather slow hairpin left. A good exit is important, because after a pretty long stretch of full throttle. The more speed you carry out of the turn, the more you benefit. When submitting you’re probably somewhere around the middle of the track, place the apex late in the turn, and go as early as possible on the gas.

Hunserug and Slotemakerbocht/chicane

Hunzerug/Slotemaker

This piece, from the car perspective, a lot more relief than you do on the basis of tv images or photographs would expect. The lines designate itself further, like in any case, the gas floored. At the Junkyardrace is, as I said, use of the chicane. For this right/left combo, it is wise to be on time to brake and turn, so that the gas as early as possible. The undersigned was almost consistently late in the anchors and then you get halfway through the chicane in the problems. A nice exit, you can get on your belly to write.

Scheivlak

Scheivlak

The bend of circuit park zandvoort? In each case a left-hand kink where many E36 upside down in the gravel is landed. Anyway, it is the Scheivlak a turn that you harder to move than you initially would think. It is very important that the car is a right state at the measurement. Do you do that? Go to Youtube, search on ” crash Scheivlak’ and see what comes.

During the Junkyardrace is the risk in this iconic bend a lot lower, because the chicane a few hundred meters make a lot of speed out of your car. Nevertheless, this is a place where you can win. Remember in any case that the apex also here again quite far ‘into’ the turn, and that you rechterbocht not all the way from the left side of the track need to be cut.

Masters corner

Mastersbocht

Still a point where you quite some time. Also here is the apex further away than you might suspect, so don’t send too early and focus on the end of the curbstones on the inside of the bend. This glooit the job at the time of hatching, so you have a much higher exitsnelheid can maintain than you might think. An interesting and challenging turn.

Bend 9

Bochten 9 en 10

Team Autoblog was unanimous: this is a terrible turn. Now it was our stripped Mondeo with its big V6 in the nose already prone to understeer, but in this rechterknik slips virtually every car over the front wheels away. After this worstelpartijtje with the laws of physics is the briefly to the third gear, to go back to his two for Turn 10.

Turn 10

Not a very interesting turn. As I said, you go back to the second gear and also here to pick up the apex a bit later than you would expect. As early as possible on the gas is necessary for a good lap time, since there is a fairly long straight stretch follows.

Hans Ernst Corner

Hans Ernst Bocht

Where the entire circuit is actually a beautiful flow, throws the Hans Ernst Corner (indeed named after the previous owner of circuit park zandvoort) is still a bit of a spanner in the works. This chicane you better slow down to take it, then, early on the gas. You Focus on the curbstones at the exit of the turn, drop the car and nice to walk outside. Moreover, we presented recently the beautiful solution of a reader, in which the Hans Ernst Corner turned into a quick left.

Kumhobocht

Kumhobocht

The pace may be back up!!!! A quick right, where you feel free to make use of the curbstones on the inside of the bend. These are quite low, and it feels a bit like you’re Fernando Alonso himself. Do not take for too much speed into the corners, because here is a good exit is important. And indeed: the apex is further away than you think, so rather send a little later.

Arie Luyendijk Bocht

Arie Luyendijk Bocht

The round is already almost on, but not before the quick right is curbed. Braking is in the most ordinary cars is not necessary, short lifts should be enough to have the nose in the right direction to get. Note, however, that the gas is not too early, because then you can at the time of publication are in trouble. Here also, not too early to submit. Leave the car at the time of publication, nice to walk outside for a lot of speed on the straight.
