Big surprise is the number of Ferrari’s in the top 10: one only!
Recently, four of the seven cars that are a million fees during an auction in Paris of the sportwagenbouwer from Modena. This time is in the top 10 of the Amelia Island auction by Bonhams only one Ferrari, a beautiful 275 GTB/4. That seems to be not so much reduced interest in classic Ferrari’s, but especially with the fact that the emphasis in this auction noted that it was on pre-war cars.
And so it can happen that we are in the overview a number of brands in encounter that here, is normally quite little. Ever heard of the Thomas Flyer, for example? Or what to think of the Armstrong Phaeton Gas-Electric Runabout, a real hybrid from 1896! We also see a usual suspect in the form of a Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Gullwing, while the first spot is reserved for a trifle boring Bugatti 57SC Sports Tourer. Such a Type 57, after all, can be much more exciting and nicer (and much more expensive).
1937 Bugatti 57SC Sports Tourer by Vanden Plas – $9,375,000
1937 Mercedes-Benz 540K Cabriolet – $2,970,000
1967 Ferrari 275 GTB/4 – $2,750,000
1933 Maserati 8C 3000 – $1,001,000
1955 Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Gullwing – $902,000
1960 Maserati 3500 GT Vignale Spider – $880,000
1935 Riley MPH Roadster – $880,000
1910 Thomas Flyer Model K 6-70 Phaeton – $825,000
1896 Armstrong Phaeton Gas-Electric Runabout – $462,000
1939 Lagonda V12 Drop Head Coupe – $458,700
