Aurora Safety Car uit 1957 is ronduit bizar
It had such a creation from Disney’s Cars.

The Aurora Safety Car has a remarkable design. The front looks like a smiling cheese slicer, where the bobbelende forms through to the back of the four wheeler. The car had to serve as the most safe car in the world ever would have seen. Furthermore, a conceptual model is, however, never came. It was with horror responded to the looks of the car.

The Aurora proved to be mechanically not quite kosher. The car would be presented in New York and moved to do this from Connecticut. During the two hour drive the car stopped 15 times. Served as the basis of the frame of a Buick, coming from 1953. Alfred A. Juliano, the creator behind the Aurora, chose not to have windscreen wipers on the car to mount. In his opinion, were obsolete by the spherical design of the windscreen.

To the stamp ‘safest car ever’ invented Juliano implemented various security measures. So had the Aurora about seat belts, a roll cage, and steel. That last used Volvo in a similar form since 1991 under the heading, Side Impact Protection System (SIPS). Another notable detail is the fact that Juliano foam processed in the front bumper. This was to be a collision soften and care for less severe injuries at a higher speed. A hydraulic mechanism was there on his place to make sure that the car with the wheels off the ground. This is activated via a button on the dashboard.

Juliano worked for eventually four years to the concept. In total pumped he is $ 30,000 in the project. He thought the money back by a production model with a price tag of $ 12,000. So far it never came. The original Aurora still exists and was built in 2005 and completely restored by autoverzamelaar Andy Saunders (family of?).
