Marchionne: Alfa is the F1 with its own chassis

Uncle Serge wants to be Alpha still the F1 in sheds.
It remains a separate man who is Sergio Marchionne. With some regularity plays the Canadian Italian with the cuore sportivo’s of languorous lovers. As alluded me for a long time on the investment of billions to a full menu of tasty new Alfa’s to create and to capture en passant, but as the Formula 1 recapture.
So far, it seems he is, however, more concerned with ‘quick fixes’ such as cynical rebadges (think Lancia Voyager) and financial huzarenstukjes than with the business of making cars.” So he bought for an apple and an egg and Chrysler of the Us ‘gubment’ and made that, with the help of lower gasoline prices and a little bit of Italian technology, so profitable that quite a FCA, there now floats. Also flirted in vain he openly with GM topvrouw Mary Barra to FCA with GM to merge. Sure, it has FCA probably provisionally preserved from destruction, but even the most shrewd businessman knows, if you are not having a good product will keep you on the long term, not full. Or do they, Victor?
It is high time for ‘the Serge’ to do some of his promises to solve. And now that new Alfa’s been postponed, why not start with the Formula 1 dream. You may think Sergio is also so, because in a new interview, he gives again that he was with Alfa Romeo to F1 will. And not only as a badge on a Ferrari-klantenmotor with some PR around it like the rumors surrounding RedBull last year suggested, but as a real team with its own chassis. Says Serge:
“Alfa Romeo are capable of making their own chassis, just like they are capable of making their own engine.”
Especially the second statement seems a trifle unbelievable, given the costs that developing a new engine would bring are huge, while Ferrari is already a source of power. On the other hand, Ferrari technically since the recent sale of shares not more per se FCA’s puppet, so who knows how those ratios exactly. With that second point in mind, it is perhaps not so strange to think of Alfa that Ferrari is fighting on the racetrack, just like in the good old days.
Finally, added Marchionne again that Le Mans what it regards is not an option. If Alpha is a serious attack on the competition in the highest echelons of motorsport, Formula 1 what it regards to be the first choice. For now, we can unfortunately, at least in the short term, no new marvellous Alfa Romeo prototypes expect. But yes, so keep’n Alpha also but even for 24 hours.
