That we massively a fun steering, cheap and easy hatchbackie want to, that is, of course, is beyond dispute. But who should make them? Peugeot, or…?
After the writing of the Autoblog Opinion of last Wednesday, it started a little bit of ghosts in my head. Why is there no contemporary alternative to the in the opinion recommended that 106 Rallye? Just a small hatchback without luxury, alloy wheels or other things that distract from the pleasure of driving, but with a nice smooth cube. But which brand should it make? We will make you three proposals, with pictures and all.
Peugeot
Well, that is of course for the hand. Peugeot was the fact that, first with the 205 Rallye came, and later with the acclaimed 106 Rallye. There was even a Rallye variant of the 306, but that was not so pure. Incidentally, Peugeot is not the creator of the Rallye-version, that was Simca with the 1000 Rallye. Later also came Talbot, the Samba Rallye, but the recipe always stayed the same.
The best choice within the current range of Peugeot for a Rallye version is, of course, the 208. Currently there is a major gap between the 1.2 Pure Tech 110 hp and the GTi with 208 hp. Now the 110-horsepower three-cylinder may be a little bit lafjes, but the block is also located in the 308 with 130 hp. Take the most simple 208 Access of 14.200 euro, spoon 1.2 with 130 hp in it, liver them in every colour but white is and keep that price under the 17.500 euros. We are all happy.
Renault
At Renault, there are two cars that are eligible, the Twingo and the Clio. Do me anyway, but that last one, despite the front wheel drive. In the Clio is the 120 hp 1.2-the four-cylinder is the strongest block on the RS after. But also at Renault is that block also with 130 hp, this is normal in the Megane. Same recipe: steel wheels, white paint, no options and a nice price tag. Oh, and what onderstelgoodies of the Clio RS please.
Ford
If there is one modern car in the vicinity of the 106 Rallye, the Ford Fiesta Red/Black Edition. This sporty Fiesta will cost you just 19 mille and has a 140 hp 1.0 EcoBoost under the hood. Nice little car, but with standard air-conditioning, alloy, electric windows, heated door mirrors, and more of that kind of clutter. Remove that also and make it a little cheaper and I am completely happy.
