#video of the day | Boston Dynamics showed off a new version of the Atlas robot

Boston Dynamics продемонстрировала новую версию робота Atlas

Modern robotics is developing by leaps and bounds. Looking at the development of one of the company Boston Dynamics, Willy-nilly, you begin to believe that the day when humanoid robots will live among people. If earlier such it was possible to see only in sci-Fi movies, now anthropomorphic robots moving on rough terrain, interact with objects and generally behave a lot like people.

A new version of the bipedal robot Atlas, demonstrated in the video below, is designed to work both indoors and outdoors. He works from a mobile battery without any wires, stretching to his body. As before, the robot masterfully balances so as not to lose balance and not fall when walking. But even if it is very hard to push and knock out, he is able to independently rise from the ground.

For the navigation in the Atlas space uses stereoscopic cameras and a LIDAR optical sensors used in the automotive industry. The new version of the robot has height about 180 centimeters (a head lower than the previous model), and its weight is 81.5 pounds. The robot is able to detect and identify various objects to interact with them and to navigate in space, finding the optimal path from one point to another.
