Boxerpower!
Maybe you knew it already, because Porsche runs all of two seasons around. But that 500 hp from a four-cylinder managed to get had you -honestly say – 15 years ago can not think of, right? Yup, that escalated quickly. It is the engine behind the success story of the Porsche 919 at Le Mans. They were in 2015 first and second during the legendary 24 hours on the Circuit de Sarthe. For the first time, explains Porsche his cards open on the table.
Do you want this in your Boxter, you say? I also, just like Porsche. The 718 Boxster even has the configuration of the motor derived from their racer. The short-stroke and direct injection that is centrally positioned, are examples. Incidentally, are they in terms of placement total not the same. The 919 carried her cylinders in a V shape at 90 degrees, the Boxster has them of course, just lying like a boxerconfiguratie.
But back to the 919. In that car resulted in the monsterlok a peak power of about 500 hp. More than 250 hp per litre! Thanks to the (mandatory) hybrid system in the racer was the total capacity with 400 hp jacked up to 900 pieces. Not bad. Unfortunately, the house rules in the enduranceracerij adjusted, and thereby the energy consumption per round what pinched. Porsche will have that four cylinder engine nuke so what should reduce.
