The previous Mazda3 MPS had everything a hacthback hot: a motor with a good horsepower-reserve – 260 hp in this case – and a top road handling, combined with plenty of feedback. But we’re talking about a car from 2009, and now there is a new Mazda3 served. In short, where is the MPS version of the current 3?
This means Mazda itself the jaws are still stiff on each other, but when we Japanese automobile magazine Holiday Auto may believe, then Mazda is already busy with the development of a Skyactiv-G engine that is put under pressure by a turbo. A striking set, because Mazda’s Skyactiv technology makes use of a high compression and fuel injectors with high injection pressure (explanation). Factors that do not rhyme with supercharging of a turbo. However, they seem, according to an insider, is there a way have found to get this working.
According to the sheet it goes to a 2.5-liter engine, which in tests an output of 320 hp (235kW) uitblaft. The production version will be in the Mazda3 MPS will eventually be reduced to +/- 300 hp. The schakelwerk is carried out by a manual zesbak, and the most striking is that the Mazda3 MPS all-wheel drive impute. As in: drive to the front wheels and support the rear wheels if necessary.
This will make it an interesting competitor for the Mégane RS, Golf GTI, Astra GTC and the Focus ST. But before we scheurijzertje welcome, that for now only a rumor, we will be in 2016.
