Before you try any of this, watch almost every episode of Red Dwarf at least once, and read at least 1 of the books to fully comprehend Lister’s character. -
2
Look the part. Wear the same basic clothes everywhere you go. Combat boots, a patched up jacket and overly stained clothes are a good start. Also, don’t brush your hair too often, only once in a while when you feel like doing it. If you want to go extreme, shave your hair down to three dreadlocks. -
3
Speak the part. Don’t try too hard to replicate his accent, but if you can, try slurring and replacing most T’s with D’s, and never fully pronounce words. Swearing is important too, be sure that when addressing someone you don’t particularly like, slip in a few Smegs, Aceholes and Arseheads. If something is good, it’s brutal. If something is bad, it’s smeggin’ ridiculous. If you aren’t comfortable swearing or aren’t aloud to, use the appropriate version of the swear word like “Fudge” instead of the F word. -
4
Act the part. An important part of Lister’s character is his mannerism. Complete rejection of any authority is a good start, and a carefree attitude is essential.
