Steps
-
1
Make over-exaggerated movements. Swing your arms, knock into stuff, clap your hands to your face or your hips, or swing your fist like you’re jolly. -
2
Use a false voice and say things like you normally don’t. Use a cheery tone, and stretch your vowels. Use proper language, and speak as if you were writing a detailed poem. “If you shimmer quietly along our avenue’s winding road at midnight, the stars beam down on you and douse you in silver light.” If you are in school, and a teacher asks you a question, give a long, detailed answer that is off-topic. Dramatic is being creative. -
3
Have extremely powerful feelings. -
4
Make your expressions very obvious. Smile big. Frown large. Make a perfect “o” when surprised. -
5
Be animated! Stomp your foot, gesture with your hands, flip your hair (that is if you don’t have an afro). -
6
Always look disconnected. -
7
When you are acting on-stage, get it the zone. Nothing else matters. You are not you. If you have to play Charlie in Willy Wonka, You can hear the chocolate waterfall drizzling away in the background, taste the sugar on your tongue, hear the laughter of children and the quiet hum of an oompa-loompa. -
8
Look at things differently. Think outside of the box. -
9
Wear unusual things. Match a skintight Fanta tee shirt, a raggedy knitted hobo-like cardigan, and baggy camouflage pants, and a huge leather cowboy belt. (that’s what i wore today, I felt like a hobo who had served in the army, who longs to live in the Old West). Wear what you feel. -
10
Have a large vocabulary. -
11
Live your life as if you were the star of a movie. Or sometimes, perhaps you want to be a supporting character. Whatever you feel. -
12
If you are not extremely outgoing, and you don’t like people looking at you, and you are horrified by the words ‘different’ ‘unique’ ‘unusual’ then you were not born to be dramatic. Perhaps you are artsy. Not dramatic, unfortunately.
