Want to start a diary of your own? It’s a really good idea for all ages! But chances are that if someone walks into your room while writing an entry, they will ask what you are doing. And they might have already seen a couple words of your letter and get suspicious.

    Pretend you are doing schoolwork. Always keep a school workbook with you, so when someone walks in, open your schoolbook and copy what it says in the book into your diary or journal. Pencil is a good idea, so when the person goes away, erase and start up your entry again.

    Pretend to read. Keep a book cover on your diary, and when the person walks in the room, just pretend to be sucked into your book.

    Make a title for your diary. If you have a plain cover (no design) on your diary, make a title for it. So if it is left on the sofa and someone sees it, they will think it is just a book if it said “The Willow Weeps Tomorrow by Samuel Smith”. If you label it “My diary”, people will be tempted to open it and read your dearest secrets.

    Pretend to write a letter. When someone enters the room, pretend to write a letter to a friend, relative, or love. Read you letter out loud while actually writing your diary entry. Be sure to position your diary in the right spot so the person can’t see that you are actually writing a diary, not a letter.

    Stay near a hollow space. Stay near a hollow space, like on your bed. So if someone walks in, just slip it under your bed, under the covers, under a pile of stuffed animals, or in your pillowcase.

    Keep your butt handy!!! When someone approaches you, sit on your book! Remember, that is not possible if you have a large diary with like 1,000 pages in it!!!
