Ever tore your eardrums if you are without ear plugs in a Grand Prix visited. If the Mercedes is, we will soon get back in touch with goose bumps from a past racing F1 car.

With the arrival of the V6 turbo’s came to an end an era in the Formula 1. First disappeared the yelp V12 engines, then the V10’s and eventually also the V8 engines. The new V6 engines, including the Energy Recovery System, had the king’s class of motorsport a cleaner image.

The loyal fans see their sport nevertheless, more and more of its luster lose. The class’s under the F1 (GP2) make the year 2014 more noise and drive regularly faster lap times than the Grand Prix drivers. Of a sport that sells itself is no longer a question.

That it is so no longer. has now also penetrated to the men of Mercedes. They are testing today with a considerably larger exhaust (format horn, nice addition on the new noses), trying some more sound from the V6 to squeeze. Or is it really an improvement and whether the adaptation is acquired by the other teams, however, falls to be seen.
