Volkswagen XL Sport: a XL1 with Ducati power

During a presentation at the Technical University of Vienna, Volkswagen chief Ferdinand Piëch this 190 bhp XL Sport show. In other words, a fun version of the ultrazuinige XL1.

At the end of this XL Sport is not ultra-diesel engine, but the 1.2-litre two-cylinder Ducati (Panigale engine), with 190 hp/124 Nm. If you combine that with a weight of less than 795 kilograms then you have a very fun toy to tear.

What is the status exactly of this project, we know unfortunately not, but the fact that Piëch here in the (semi) public is talking about is in any case a good sign. Volkswagen builds the 111.000 euro-dollar XL1 after all, so it would be a breeze should be to have a second, sporty, variation in production.

Maybe that’s a good idea to have a small racing series with a number of those cars. That will undoubtedly have a positive impact on the image of this cigar-on-wheels. (via: autorevue.at)
