Minder schade aan politieauto's
Police cars have a hard life and are often, whether consciously or not, as a bumper car. Still, the police proudly reported that last year the amount of damage to police vehicles is decreased.

Figures from the police show that last year 10.975 notifications of registered damage to police vehicles, in 2011 there were 11.404 and in 2010 it was the counter on 11.585. According to the police, this is including light damage such as ruitschade by debris, vandalism, and damage where the police are not accountable.

That all sounds nice, but we also know that the police last year, was involved in 9.538 collisions. The over-over-overwhelming majority of the damage will probably relate to a little more than an asterisk by crushed stone.

Police chief Gerard Bouman is in any case very happy about the fall:

“In particular, the striking police vehicles are 24/7 and under all circumstances, such as chases, used. The damage potential is there of course. In addition, police vehicles are in pristine condition and thus any damage, no matter how small, must be reported. This therefore also includes claims where the police are not accountable. If I have the number of police vehicles (13.896) pushes against the number of damage claims reported (10.975), then we are on the right path. Continued attention in the driver training and preventive facilities to cars is, nevertheless, important.”
