In the Netherlands is 200 hp more then enough

In een Fiesta ST kan je nog wel lol hebben, ook buiten Nederland trouwens
Cars are just better, bigger, more luxurious and more powerful. But it is still actually nice to be in the Netherlands more than 200 hp under the hood?

Let’s talk about driving pleasure. We are enormously in recent years spoiled hit if we look at the mean power in “normal” cars. Where 20 years ago is still quite a “big deal” was made on birthdays if you have a 130 bhp 205 GTI on the sidewalk, throw your now your keys are not on the table if there are at least 200 bhp in your Fiesta ST or Clio RS is. “John, 140 horsepower in your Polo? The inclusion was important?” is a question that you prefer not to answer during a night in the pub.

It is all a logical consequence of the increasingly sophisticated car. As a manufacturer you go no models again in the market with lesser specs than its predecessor, why would you? It must be always better and faster, that is the customer. As a logical consequence of the sliding of the performance cars also. Let a car in to address that quite lasts a long time. The Porsche 911 is, this year fifty years old and the first models had 130 horsepower under the hood. Today, you come to the showroom with less than 350 hp. Is that bad? No, I have nothing against pk’s, and in addition the power increase, partly needed to gain weight to compensate.

But all the hp’s also have a downside. Let the stoplichtsprintje. Suppose that we are at the traffic lights. On the other side of the intersecting road begins a two-lane highway. Allowed speed: 100 kilometers per hour. In that old Porsche 911 took the sprint to 100 seconds in the entry-level of about 8.5 seconds. Now is that to 4.8 seconds in a 991 Carrera. Outside of the fact that we run almost twice as long (and therefore longer brought pleasure), I dare also still have the bet going that the owner of that old 911 more fun than the owner of the 991 now.

In our ever tighter and more controlled country, it is with modern cars (and especially with the sporty models) is very easy to become hard to go. Within 8 seconds to a hundred is “average”, while at the time as a spectacular car designated Peugeot 205 Rallye thick 9 seconds, did with its 103 horsepower. I use the sprintcijfers just as an example, but overall, the performance of cars, of course, much better. And that is why I wonder: do you have all the horsepower in the Netherlands? You have a C63 AMG Edition 507 on the sidewalk or put is a C200 all the fun was?

I recently had a few days for a Toyota GT86 TRD on the sidewalk. We’re going to just not have the options or the looks of that thing, but purely in terms of driving, that was a fun car. A car where your fun can have without that you need to hope that every Volvo in your rear-view mirror mounted by a team of Look at the Wegmisbruikers on the Heels you driving 10 seconds later by the shredder would come in. Zero to one hundred? 7.6 seconds. Yes, you can look better not a sprint, to compete with a Fiesta ST or Golf GTI but it is a car which you fun can have without too big risk of losing your driver’s license.

My thought, and the statement that I therefore, for your nose wants to aim high: 200 hp is more than enough to have fun with in the Netherlands. As long as we are not limitless Autobahn to get of course, then we evaluate again.
