Who is the current XJ to the spirit, would be able to forget that the previous generation of Jaguar’s flagship is still quite a traditional styling.

Despite the retro-styling of this generation is the first modern Jaguar, and that translates back in the quality. More good news is that the XJR with 400 hp from a V8 with a supercharger (and the very rare Daimler Super V8 long wheelbase), not necessarily more expensive to drive.

Offer used cars

• On AutoScout24 are a little more than 50 copies of the Jaguar XJ as a used car to purchase.
• More than 10% has a diesel engine.
• An automatic gearbox was standard.
• 60% of the offer relates to a V6 (petrol or diesel).
• Almost all luxury is on almost all cars.
• Only an open roof is at less than half of the cars.
• Prices start at 10,000 euros.

Pros

• The slogan “A Jaguar for the price of a car” is definitely in.
• All the space and luxury you could wish for.
• Lighter and therefore cheaper in terms of MRB than the competition.
• Chassis provides a nice mix between sportiness and comfort.

Issues

• The turbo 2.7 diesel does get very hot after intensive use (high speed, long climb, or tow a heavy load), the motor must first be running cool. In 2006, there is also a batch of bad turbos used, but who will by this time all been replaced.
• If a 2.7 diesel a lot for short distances is used, then the roefilter full walk. The regenerate can, as much diesel consume in the oil sump.
• Brake pads on the rear wear out quickly.
• Corrosion can be a problem in spite of the aluminum body. It is caused by the steel rivets that are used. Corrosion can occur at the back cover, the bottom of the doors, the jambs and the wielkastranden.
• Parking sensors give you quite the mind and are pricey to replace.
• Bushings on the rear wear out quickly, especially on cars with large rims and low profile tires.
• The aardepunten with the radiator of the headlights can corrode and this can cause various electrical problems.
